Bertie Domestic Medium Hair Baby - Adoption, Rescue for sale in Catalpa, Virginia

$100

Bertie has it all; looks, personality, skills and a super loving nature.

Sadly, he missed the memo stating that all cats shall be aloof.

He was probably busy sidling up to someone for some loving.

This is just a super cat, one-in-a-million!

Gorgeous with striking burnt orange coloring and markings and lovely soft furry coat.

Loads of personality, he keeps us laughing with his shenanigans, and I don't know how an animal whose face is covered with fur can have so many expressions, but he manages that effortlessly.

He hasn't grown into his big feet yet, I suspect he will be a large cat; he slips slides around on our hardwood floors and will run into a room and slide about a foot...reminding my husband of Tom Cruise in Risky Business.

He just comes on as a star!

He's good with the other cats, good with our 4 dogs and just wants to have fun or cuddle.

When he's ready for some loving, he goes limp in your arms and loves getting smooches and snuggles.

You would think after this glowing description that he was a spoiled kitten, but his beginning was actually very rough; returning to our van after paying for gas pumped, we found him on the front seat of our van with a note that said "Please help me." and boy did he need help.

He smelled to high heaven like only dried diarrhea can smell.

His backside was coated in dried feces.

We could not clean it ourselves as it was glued to his skin as well.

The vet staff ended up soaking his bottom and completely shaving everything back there.

Sadly, revealing two ulcerated sores from where the poo had scalded his skin.

It took five weeks for the open wounds to heal so that he could be neutered.

It required warm washcloths and antiseptic powder applied several times each day.

He always remained in the best of spirits and allowed me to do everything to him.

This is a sweetheart of a cat.

This is the cat everyone wants.

Bertie's ideal home is where he is an integral part of the family and gets love, attention and playtime.

Bertie's adoption fee is $100.

Bertie is completely vetted;

neutered, Felv tested negative, up-to-date on all vaccines, plus rabies, wormed, deflead, and Micro-chipped!

If you are interested in meeting Bertie, please submit an adoption application located on our webpage, /adop/#/adoption-form/

Once submitted, the vet reference you provided will be contacted (if no vet, please provide 3 personal references, may be family and friends as long as they have a cat that you interact with), and a volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you.

If approved, you will be contacted by the foster parent to discuss the animal and arrange the logistics for a visit.

Our rescue group does not have a brick and mortar facility, all our animals are home fostered in our volunteers homes.

You will be visiting a private residence.

The application does not oblige you to adopt, nor does the visitation; the application just gives us more info to help ensure a good match, and to protect the privacy of our volunteers.

Our policy is that we always take our animals back should it prove to be a less than perfect match, or if you are unable or unwilling to care for the animal any longer.

We just don't want the animal to go back into the system.

Thank you for considering an unwanted and abandoned dog, and being part of the rescue efforts.
